ProMinent technology helps people in the greatest need
Reports of natural disasters always affect us particularly as, all too often, entirely unforeseen, large numbers of people are utterly and helplessly exposed to the most terrible situations. That is why we are extremely pleased that ProMinent technology is now being used to help thousands of flood victims in Thailand.
One of our Thai subsidiaries, ProMinent Fluid Controls, developed a floating water treatment system to supply the people there with hygienically pure water. This is a matter very close to the heart of ProMinent and true to the traditions of the founder of the company, Prof. Dr. h.c. Viktor Dulger, whose aim it is to improve drinking water supply across the globe by the development of innovative components.
Although the people are surrounded by huge areas of flood water, there is a lack of drinking water in Thailand's flood area owing to the extremely polluted water. An ultra-complex and at the same time space-saving water treatment system was installed on a boat to quickly supply the people in need with completely germ-free drinking water. The water treatment system comprises various multi-stage filters with backwashing, ultrafiltration systems, reverse osmosis membranes and a UV system for final disinfection of the drinking water.
To avoid any risk, experienced ProMinent experts continuously monitor the quality of the water using extremely accurate measurements. Working in conjunction with the water control authorities, the Army and the Navy, the boat regularly travels around the area providing drinking water for those affected to collect or bottle. A jet ski team, that formed itself, brings the pure drinking water in containers to the more remote flooded houses. A quite unique use of our technology that makes us very proud.
